Book Review: Demolition Practices, Technology, and Management

John Woodward has conducted a book review for the Richard J. Diven and Mark Shaurette book Demolition Practices, Technology and Management for KHL.com.

The book consists of 13 chapters spread over 180 pages and covers all stages of the demolition process including an introduction to the industry.

John sums the book up by saying:

"The National Demolition Association and Purdue have, with their decision to publish this first reference book of demolition practices, produced a book that clearly shows how the work is done, from estimation to final account and the book will be a valuable source of information for demolition professionals working today and in the future."

IDE assists USA Professor when he visits UK

Mark Shaurette, PhD, Assistant Professor at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indianapolis, USA is visiting the UK in early July and requested the opportunity to visit a project where technology not commonly used in the USA is being used.

The IDE, via it's members, Paul Mayo of Coleman and Co and Vice President John Woodward, were able to arrange for Mark to visit the Coleman and Co site at Broomloan Court, Glasgow where the tallest Ultra High Reach machine in the UK, produced by Liebherr for Coleman, is demolishing three 22 storey tower blocks for GHA.

Mark is visiting the site on Tuesday July 6th where Coleman and Co supervisor Eddie French will show Mark around, explain the workings of the machine and allow Mark to shoot photos and video of the machine in action.

Mark is delighted that the IDE were able to arrange this visit and allow him to see such a great piece of technology in action.
