All good things must come to an end

There is a saying that all good things come to an end and that is certainly true here at C&D as Dr Roland O'Connor has decided to leave C&D and head off for a new challenge.

Roland, who has worked at C&D for many years, has decided that the time is right to change direction with his career and has accepted the position of Health, Safety & Environmental Officer at Colmore Tang (one of C&D's customers) who have grown their construction business from zero turnover to £60 million in just 12 months. This rapid growth has seen their workload in Birmingham grow to such an extent that a dedicated HS&E professional is required.

Roland starts his new position on Monday, 8th June, but he will be honouring his commitments to C&D for training courses already booked, and will, from time to time be returning to the C&D team to deliver training as and when required.

Roland comments on his time at C&D:

"It has been a great pleasure to work with the dedicated professionals at C&D, especially my oldest friend John Woodward, over the last few years and to see it go from strength to strength. I wish all the very best to the many C&D clients that I have worked with in the past and look forward to seeing you all again from time to time."

It goes without saying that we value his contribution to C&D during his time with us and we wish him all the best in this new exciting position.

Roland's workload will be shared amongst the other members of C&D for the time being, but as work loads continue to grow, we will be adding to our team in the future.

C&D Consultancy continue to be featured in Demolition magazine

When Mark Anthony Publications launched their new magazine "Demolition" earlier this year we were pleased to be featured in the first edition and that pleasure is now repeated with C&D featuring on pages 40 & 41 of the current edition in the "Breaking Free" article introducing our new breaker training course in conjunction with Rammer.

The new course, fully featured on our sister site www.demolitiontraining.com, is an industry first and follows extensive discussion with Alan Matchett at Rammer to provide not only a bespoke training course written around the Rammer operating manual, but an agreement to provide trainers to deliver the course anywhere in the world that Rammer hammers are in use.

The new course will be available from 1st April 2013, initially with one trainer whilst John Woodward, Duncan Rudall, Roland O'Connor and Craig Wilkinson complete the extensive inductions into "the Rammer way" in Finland from 20th to 23rd May.

If you would like to read the Rammer training article in full you can do so by visiting www.demolitionnews.com and registering for a paper copy of the magazine. Or why not read it online right now.

Roland O'Connor MIDE

We are delighted to announce that Roland O'Connor, well known to many C&D customers, is now a Full member of The Institute of Demolition Engineers following his succesful professional interview in Leeds.

Roland is mainly known to C&D customers for the work carried out in the training room and the site audit fields of the business, but he has, for the last 5 years, been involved in many demolition projects throughout the UK for Erith, City Demolition, Liston Group, GHA and others, and he has produced H&S plans, method statements, and plans of work for many varied projects.

The IDE professional interview was daunting for Roland as he had to face questions from President Steve Jack FIDE, Vice President Duncan Rudall FIDE, and Dave Darsey FIDE about his portfolio prepared from his work over the last 2 years.

From all at C&D CONGRATULATIONS AND WELL DONE!

Roland O'Connor becomes AMIDE

C&D are very pleased to announce that Roland O'Connor passed the recent IDE exam and is now officially Roland O'Connor AMIDE.

Since joining C&D four years ago Roland has worked hard to learn as much about demolition as possible and that desire to learn has seen him become a CCDO Demolition Supervisor, a CCDO Demolition Manager and now he is on the way to becoming a full member of the IDE.

Having passed the exam Roland now needs to prepare his portfolio over the next two years, and then attend a professional interview to achieve the full member status. From all of the team at C&D Congatulations on a job well done!
