About Us

C&D Consultancy was established in May 2005 after John Woodward left Loxley Dismantling Ltd., an NFDC demolition company where he was managing director.

Initial work was estimating for a number of small, local companies with workloads growing to include Health and Safety advice, Method Statements and Health and Safety plans etc.

In 2006 the company expanded its customer base and undertook its first overseas project in Cyprus with estimating and health & safety documentation produced for the demolition of a former fertilizer plant.

During 2007 further expansion came with work as consultants for the demolition of the first oil rig to be demolished on UK soil at Lerwick, Shetland. C&D Consultancy were then also appointed as CDM co-ordinators for the demolition of 10 No 20 storey tower blocks by explosives for Glasgow Housing Association.

2008 saw continued work on the project for GHA and consultancy on a further oil rig to be dismantled at Hartlepool.

2008 also saw the commencement of the training division with Roland O'Connor recruited to deliver training courses in demolition and related subjects, and John becoming Vice President of the Institute of Demolition Engineers.

2009 saw John update the NFDC guidance for demolition of tower blocks by 'top down' methods and C&D expand their workload with additional CDM-C work on a number of tower blocks in Glasgow for members of the GHA tower block demolition framework agreement.

2010 saw John take the President's chair at the IDE and continue with speaking engagement in the UK and Europe to present on subjects such as demolition training, offshore demolition, and worldwide accident statistics to name just three. In the UK the workload continued to grow with John undertaking expert witness work and more consultancy projects on tower block demolition throughout the UK, and a number of industrial sector demolition projects.

2011 was a good year as turnover again increased, particularly in the training division as we launched new training methods with much more video and visual content. Consultancy orders continued for tower block demolition with 8 tower blocks completed during this year.

2012 came with a further increase in turnover, more training hours delivered than ever before, and recruitment of new team members to supplement the existing skills within the team. CDM-C work on tower blocks continued throughout the year both North and South of the border.
