Watch a skyscraper demolished from the inside

The video you see above shows off the Taisei Ecological Reproduction (Tecorep) method at work for brigning down the upper floors of the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka in Tokyo, Japan.

Tecorep works by keeping all the disassembly work inside the building. That means very little noise, no dust, and a much safer work environment. It is also a great solution for building over 100 meters tall that cranes cannot reach.

It works by placing the roof on temporary columns that can be lowered by jacks as the higher floors come down. It only creates 23 decibels of noise, a 90% reduction over traditional methods, and can mean buildings are demolished quicker because the weather doesn't impact work.
