Poster at Loughborough station advertising the "fantastic product that is asbestos"


During the 1950's and 1960's the consumption of asbestos in the UK continued to grow as companies introduced more and more products that contained asbestos, and those companies were more than happy to advertise how versatile the products were as can be seen from this poster at Loughborough station.

What is particularly amazing about this poster is that the UK authorities knew since the early 1900's that asbestos caused lung disease and death, but we as a nation refused to ban the product until 1999.

Just think how many lives would have been saved if we banned it earlier.
