Shachar Head returns from the Four Nations Powerlifting Championships with a trophy

We've received some great news about powerlifter Shachar Head who C&D Consultancy has supported in her trip to compete in the Four Nations Powerlifting Championships. Here's the email we received regarding her performance at the event:

Local powerlifter Shachar Head recently returned from the Four Nations Powerlifting Championships in Brentwood with a team trophy for her cabinet and another clutch of British records.

The Four Nations is a unique event in the BDFPA calendar as it adds a team ethos to what can be a very individual sport. England were pitted against Scotland, Wales and an Irish contingent made up of Southern and Northern Ireland’s finest lifters.

Head, who was supported by family who live nearby, used the the team atmosphere and eager crowd to great effect as she hoisted a squat of 140kg, bench pressed 85kg (a fourth lift which unfortunately didn't count towards her overall total) and hefted a massive 170kg deadlift for a 392.5kg total. The bench, deadlift and total were British records for an 18 year old and when she arrives on the international scene next year she can confidently look forward to smashing Teenage 3 World and European records in all disciplines.

As Ladies team captain Head also gave vocal support, encouragement and tips to her team mates, and was in turn helped massively by Bristol based Steve Sprange and England team captain Russell Martin. The England team emerged as winners of the competition for the second year in succession and hope to defend their title at next year’s event in Glasgow.

The total lift and points total placed Head as third pound for pound female lifter in the country.

The lifts were testament to the hard work and dedication Head had put in at Winners Gym, Newton Abbot with James Oswald of Oz Fitness and Steve Murray. Head noted that since her training had become more structured her all round fitness had improved “in the past, if I had had a bad session one day, I would go straight in the next day and go for big lifts again, this just tired me out even more. I didn't realise that the bad sessions were a sign of fatigue. Since working with Steve and Oz, the three powerlifting sessions a week interspersed with a couple of cardio sessions has given my body time to recuperate”.

The talented young powerlifter was also quick to thank Wolverhampton based C&D Consultancy who assisted towards Head’s hotel costs for the trip “they are a midlands based firm and a contact of Newton-based Duncan Rudall of DCS Training Ltd. John Woodward the owner of C&D doesn't know me at all and we have never met, but he has been impressed by what Duncan has told them and he was keen to assist in whatever way he could. Head has also recently received support from Mark Hamilton of Bodial Nutrition at 100% Health in Paignton.

”Both C&D Consultancy and Bodial Nutrition’s help this summer means the world to me and I really can’t thank John and Mark enough”.

After the competition Head immediately boarded a plane to Belfast where she led two lifting technique sessions at the City of Belfast Boxing Club and trained with the proprietor of the Dungeon Gym, Belfast, one of the many contacts she has made over the last 4 years.

Head’s next competition will be the Plymouth Performance Gym Invitational where she plans to smash through the elusive 400kg barrier in the company of some of the South West’s strongest powerliters.
