As the Boss gets older is it time for the "young lads" to take over?

Today is the 62nd birthday of C&D founder John Woodward so we felt we should ask him if he is thinking of retiring any time soon and this is what he said:-

Retirement would be nice but at the moment that is not a realistic option, but I do intend to do less hours and certainly less miles in the car as travel now takes its toll on me and I get tired much earlier in the week now (normally around 15.00 on Tuesday), so that is the plan.

The team at C&D are ageing with Roland O'Connor and Les Hemmings both in their 60's, so we need the younger guys at C&D to come to the forefront, as they are, to take the company forward. Mike Kehoe now acts as General Manager and deals with the majority of the work in England and he is assisted by Craig Wilkinson, Stephen McCann, Matty Bardgett, and Stuart Carter and all have many years of demolition consultancy and training in front of them so the future is bright.

I intend to complete our works on the 27 tower blocks that we are currently involved with in Glasgow and Cumbernauld over the next three years and by then the exit strategy that I am currently formulating with Mike Kehoe will be in place leaving me to do a few hours a week to keep my hand in.

Work in London continues to increase and we are training more people than ever before so I am optimistic for the next three years, excited by the prospect of more work, and looking forward to doing less hours.

So the answer to the question is Yes it is time for the young lads to take over, but that time has not quite arrived yet.
