DDS Demolition case study video for the Fast Ferry Berth Demolition

The video above is a case study produced by C&D customer DDS Demolition about their demolition of the former fast ferry berth infrastructure at the Dover Western Docks.

The job started in April of last year and was a 4 month job, which eventually took 6,184 man hours with no accidents incurred. The recycle rate for the project was an impressive 98%.

DDS Demolition start work on Dover eyesore

Burlington House in Dover is seen by just about everyone as an eyesore that takes away from the beautiful view of the nearby castle. However, the amount of asbestos it contains as well as its location has meant a blowdown isn't possible. So DDS Demolition has been tasked with carrying out a top-down, floor-by-floor demolition.

The job has been referred to as an X-Files like location, with sections cordoned off by plastic tunnels to ensure no contamination with the always dangerous asbestos as it is removed. DDS also came up with an ingenious use for the lift shafts, allowing for controlled decent of rubble from each floor.

DDS Demolition get started on changing the face of Dover

C&D Consultancy customer DDS Demolition has started changing the face of Dover by demolishing the derelict multi-storey car park behind Burlington House as the video below shows:



When the demolition is complete it is hoped that 95% of the materials will be recycled on a nearby processing location. Once complete, DDS will move on to the demolition of Burlington House in the autumn.
