Always check your crane can take the load before lifting

This is a classic case of not realizing how heavy the object is you are trying to lift. In this case the driver lucks out as the load is a boat and it falls into water so damage will be minimal.

As for the crane, I think they're going to need another one to get it back on all its wheels.

How not to right an overturned machine on a hill

The guys trying to right this overturned machine had the right idea: use a second machine and a tether line to put it back on its tracks. But they forgot the machine was actually on a hill and did not have the brakes applied. You can guess what happens...

Securing the machine with a second tether would have been advisable. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way though, and we're just glad no one got hurt.

How not to use a crane on a river bank

This is a good example of how the job isn't just about using a crane to move materials. You have to prepare the ground for the heavy crane before starting work, especially if you are on the edge of a river where the ground is sure to be loose and wet.

It doesn't look as though anyone was hurt. The crane driver had enough sense and composure to turn his cab around, and everyone else made a run for it. I hate to think how much it's going to cost to right that crane and fix the damage incurred.

How would you handle demolishing the wrong building?

It's Friday afternoon, and time for a bit of humour. Although, for the person trying to use his bathroom in the video below, I don't think there was a funny side.

A demolition carried out in 2008 was clearly not planned properly and a section of building demolished that shouldn't have been. The first the demolition crew knew about it was after tearing down the outside wall of a building revealing a bathroom. Shortly afterwards a surprised head pops round the door wondering what all the noise is about.

After a short conversation things get even more bizarre. One of the crew decide to start cleaning away the rubble, and then gets some boards to replace the wall.
