Working at Height

Introduction

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 place duties on employers, the self-employed, employees and anyone who controls the way work at height is undertaken, for example a principal contractor, a client, a managing agent, or contractors, etc. Those undertaking a height work activity need to be trained in the selected system of work and any particular work equipment chosen. For example if a MEWP is selected then the operator must be trained in its use. Managers should check that those doing the work are adequately trained.

Aims 

Essential information for all persons involved with height work which accounts for a third of all

fatalities and serious injuries, explains the importance of height work planning, the risks from fragile surfaces are properly controlled and equipment for work at height is properly inspected and maintained.

The Course includes:

· Employer / employee responsibilities

· Health and safety law

· Understanding risk assessments

· Pre-shift safety inspections

· Electricity hazards

· Emergency procedures

· Hazards at height and ground level

· Safe working practice with ladders and access systems

· Practical session and assessment (if full day)

· Question & answer paper

Delegates will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.
