Report on the Midlands Regional Meeting on Wednesday 9th September
Seventeen IDE members from the Midlands area attended the latest Midlands regional meeting on 09/09/09 at Ward Recycling at Ilkeston to view the recycling operations on site and the newly installed steel frag machine.
Adrian McLean of Armac did his usual excellent job of organisation that saw the members attend the recycling site to be given a full guided tour of this superb, state of the art facility before sandwiches and coffee in the office boardroom and a presentation from Toby Potter (Business & Development Director) on how the price of scrap fluctuates on a daily basis depending on demand from Turkey and China. This short but concise presentation explained why the scrap price is difficult to predict, and what factors influence the day to day scrap price levels.
Following the Ward presentation Vice President John Woodward spoke briefly about upcoming IDE events and, in particular, the AGM and luncheon on 13/11/09 that has limited availability owing to the size of the venue and the high ticket uptake, and the Seminar at OGGS on 25/09/09 where IDE have attracted excellent speakers from Europe and UK to offer a varied and full programme for the day.
Full details of the seminar programme can be found at www.ide.org.uk
