The HSE and the BHF-BSSA Group have teamed up to create a new factsheet for projects on retail sites. Specifically the factsheet covers contractor safety and relates to public liability insurance.
The factsheet covers the following
* Who has the duty to manage;
* What the duty to manage means;
* Three essential steps to comply with the duty; and
* Advice on asbestos surveys.
Members of the British Shops and Stores Association can gain access to the factsheet.
The HSE also provide a freely available guide entitled "A short guide to managing asbestos in premises" available from the HSE website (PDF)
