Birmingham New Street Station refurb requires tower demolition
The well-known Stephenson Tower in Birmingham is set to be demolished to make way for the New Street Station refurbishment.
The tower was built in the 1960s and is 20-storeys high. All residents have been moved out and demolition will occur by this time next year. Phase one of the New Street Station refurbishment is set for completion in 2012. The project will complete in 2015.
It's not yet clear how demolition will be carried out, but we can be sure there will be a lot of coverage as this landmark tower block comes down.
