John Woodward to sit on panel of experts at EDA Conference

John Woodward has been invited to sit on the "panel of experts" at the EDA Autumn Event next month.

The event runs between the 8-10th September in the Infra City Hotel, Sweden. The panel debate is happening at 2pm on the 9th September.

Details of the panel debate are as follows:

Experts invited:

Mr Maurizio Massaia, President of the NAD, Italy
Mr David Darsey, President of the NFDC, UK
Mr Jan Anders Hermansson, Editor of PDI, Sweden
Mr John Woodward, Vice-President of the Institute of Demolition Engineers, UK

Questions the experts will tackle:

1. In the light of the economic crisis, is it better to have a vertical, super-specialised business model or a broad business model with skills in a number of sectors?

2. If the business model is to be broadened, then the environmental sector is probably the main one which will have to be developed. Should the business expand with internal divisions specialising in asbestos, reclaim and waste management, or would it be better to assign these tasks to external subcontractors specialising in the individual sectors?

3. Other than reclamations which have to be carried out, what steps can a demolition company take to be more eco-sustainable? (e.g. using electric excavators)

4. Finally, there are environmental certifications such as ISO and EMAS. In your opinion, do these bring real advantages from an environmental point of view?
