Sonim release perfect phone for a demolition site
Mobile phones on a dusty, and with the English weather usually wet demolition site can easily go wrong. Drop it, scratch it, or get it too hot or cold and you are left with a brick that needs repairing or replacing.
Sonim specilaizes in producing phones meant to operate in hostile environments, and they've just announced their latest called the Sonim XP1300. It has a US military rating meaning it's waterproof, salt, fog, humidity, transport, and thermal shock resistant. Drop this phone 2 meters on to solid concrete and if it could it would laugh at you.
It's not just about being resilient, though. Sonim realize rugged environments usually come hand-in-hand with a lot of noise. So they've included a noise-cancelling microphone allowing the person on the other end of the phone to hear you even when standing right next to an operational machine. It's also got a battery that lasts 800 hours.
If you're still not convinced these phones are tough check out this guy trying to break the screen with a nail:
In the UK the XP1300 is expected to be £250 which is less than half the price of an iPhone.
