It's hard to believe now, but asbestos was so cheap and abundant that some savvy businesses decided to use the substance in novelty items, not just on building sites.
The Mesothelioma Resource Center has compiled five of the worst, and I think you'll be surprised to find out what they are.
The top five includes:
1. Joke cigarette ashes
2. A novelty moneybag
3. Asbestos shoes
4. Asbestos insoles
5. CSI fingerprinting kit for kids
While 4 of the 5 are quite old and thankfully no longer available, that fingerprinting kit was released in 2006! Watchdog group ADAO tested it and found it contained a high level of asbestos. If kids had gotten their hands on it who knows how many future tragedies it could have caused.
