Humphries Demolition commences Royal Brierley Crystal factory demolition

C&D customer Humphries Demolition Ltd. has this week begun demolition of the Royal Brierley Crystal site in Tipton Road.

The historic building is being demolished to make way for a £6 million project that will see a new state-of-the-art building erected to house the Dudley and Sandwell archives. Parts of the building will also be rented out to Sandwell Council as a storage facility.

Brierley Crystal used the current building as a factory for production from 2002-2007. A shop was also present on site that didn't close until last year. The new building once completed will have the existing archives transferred over from the former Mount Pleasant school in Coseley. Once completed, that school is also due for redevelopment as new housing.
