Rose Tower in Alabama imploded
Last week the 13-storey Rose Tower in Alabama was imploded. The blast required 400 pounds of explosives to raise the 43-year-old building to the ground.
The blast took a few seconds, but the clean-up operation is expected to take 2 months and 2,500 lorry loads of rubble. In its place will be built a number of 2- and 4-bedroom student houses, along with a hall that will house 870 students that is due to be finished by 2014.
