Steetley Chimney demolished in Hartlepool
The Steetley Chimney in Hartlepool was a landmark structure. I say was, because it no longer features having been demolished yesterday morning.
The chimney was taken down as part of a larger chemical works site clearance. As part of the event, £6,000 was raised in a raffle to win the option of pushing the button that blew up the chimney. The winner being 47-year-old local Dave Ficker.
The job was carried out by Robinson & Birdsell Limited who made the chimney fall in the direction of the beach due to active railway tracks being present nearby.
