Boodarie Iron plant decommissioning

Clinton Dick and Simon Gill of Liberty Industrial will be giving a talk at this years' World Demolition Summit about the Boodarie Iron plant plant decommissioning, and it's sure to be standing room only.

The project is by far one of the most complex demolition works carried out in over a decade and consisted of demoliting three major structures:
  • 65m (214ft) tall Briquette structure
  • 100m 328ft) high reactor structure
  • 40m (131ft) tall gas plant
In total there was over 25,000 tons of steel and the job required the largest demolition excavator in Australia (230 tonne Liebherr 994) and the largest available grapples made by Embrey’s Australia, which weighed 14 tons.

Explaining how they used that equipment at a site (Port Hedland) that regularly sees cyclones and earthquakes, should make for a fascinating chat come the World Demolition Summit.
