World Demolition Summit conference programme finalised

The programme for the one-day technical conference that forms part of the 2014 World Demolition Summit has now been finalised. With a focus on practical illustrations of demolition expertise on specific, challenging demolition projects, speakers will come from around the world to showcase their work. The presentations will run the full gamut of project types: from civil and residential explosive demolition, industrial, civil and urban illustrations.

The final two speakers who confirmed their participation at the event are Ruud Schreijer and Martin Bjerregaard.

Ruud will make a presentation on a project currently under way in Saudi Arabia, entitled: MATAF, the expansion of the Holy Mosque in Makkah. In addition to supplying three RS4500 demolition machines for the project, Ruud is also responsible for the provision of the necessary experienced and skilled operators that these machines require. He will discuss the challenges involved in the coordination of the project, as well as a background to the project itself.

Martin, of d3-consulting, will take the topic of the state of play where North Sea decommissioning activities are concerned. His company is currently involved in nine separate gas platform decommissioning projects, where it is advising clients on how to manage these projects from a waste management and onshore disposal perspective. d3 has previously worked on three other platform decommissioning projects in the Northern and Central North Sea.

Martin will also examine the opportunities offered to contractors of work in this connection as well as methods that would allow them to enter this lucrative but challenging sector.
