Demolition degrees confirmed for 2017!

We are very pleased to announce that from September 2017 over 100 people will be able to study for a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Demolition and Restoration Management in the Built Environment degree.
According to the IDE announcement:
"The Institute for Demolition Engineers (IDE) used its Autumn Seminar to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Wolverhampton that will see bespoke courses developed to give more than 100 people every year the chance to study for a Bachelor of Science or Masters of Science Demolition and Restoration Management in the Built Environment degree.
The sector, which works on more than £8bn of projects ever year, will use the qualifications to attract more young people into the industry, as well as ensuring current demolition engineers have access to the best possible professional development opportunities."

We're edging ever closer to an IDE demolition degree
Our very own John Woodward has announced during the recent European Demolition Association Convention in Glasgow that the IDE is very close to agreeing the format of the first degree-level qualification in demolition.
Speaking on behalf of IDE president Duncan Rudall, John said:
"We’re moving towards incorporation into the Engineering Council. The IDE can’t be incorporated but members can be. The institute can become similar to the Institute of Structural Engineers in that respect."
The options being considered are an MSc distance learning course for those already in the industry, as well as a BSc degree to support students who want a career in demolition. Whatever the options end up being, the degree(s) will be offered through Wolverhampton University initially.
