C&D Consultancy invest in new Demolition Simulator

C&D have decided to follow the lead of other companies and demolition organisations by investing in a state of the art demolition simulator.

The new simulator, developed in partnership with B&S Engineering of Wolverhampton will allow trainees in the demolition industry to experience hands on via simulation, what it is like to make cups of tea for the supervisors and machine drivers when they arrive at site in the morning.

Health & Safety laws and risk assessment prevent anyone under the age of 21 actually boiling water so our new simulator will allow trainees to fill an imaginary “kettle” with water and flick a switch to turn it on, watching the simulator light up the “kettle” whilst the water boils, whilst the trainees pull levers to dispense tea, coffee, sugar and milk into mugs.

When the “kettle” has boiled the trainees then have to write a lifting plan and get that approved before they can pull another lever to lift the “kettle” and put the now boiling water into the cups.

Finally when the cups are full the trainees have to drive the simulator around an obstacle course of site boots left on the floor of the canteen and an overflowing waste bin to get the tea to the supervisors and machine drivers.

C&D founder John Woodward said “We believe that our investment of over £2.50 in this simulator will rapidly train the demolition workforce in a key skill and that investment will be repaid many times by better tea making skills and more tea for supervisors and drivers”.
