Planning how to go about demolishing a structure takes knowledge and experience. Even when everything goes according to plan, something can go wrong, and you have to account for every eventuality. When we're talking about large sturctures in built-up areas, the consequences of a mistake or miscalculation can be huge.
Taking the risk out of the process is key, and Dr. Ahmed Amir Khalil of Applied Sciences International plans to show us one way of doing that during a presentation at the Demolition Summit 2013 later this year. Dr. Kalil will demonstrate how the demolition process can be modelled and simulated before the job even starts. You can see each eventuality and adjust accordingly, all done on a computer, not the actual site.
If you want to see this software in action you need to attend the Demolition Summit 2013 on October 31st at the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky. Bookings can be made by contacting Saara Rootes either by telephone (01892 786243) or email (saara.rootes@khl.com)
