Demolition Summit 2013 presentations now available to view online

This year C&D were not among the presenters at the event but there is a brief cameo appearance from John Woodward within the presentation from “Demo Diva” Simone Bruni where she discusses how her business has grown since she attended the Summit in 2010 when John was a presenter.

All of the speaker presentations are available at www.khl.com/videozone and these include the presentation from our old friend Dick Green of IndEx independent explosives engineers.

As well as the Summit coverage the site includes full details of all of the winners at the World Demolition Awards that followed the demolition summit on the evening. The award for Contract of the Year went this year to Hunter Demolition from Scotland and they were presented with their award by John.

Simulating the demolition process at Demolition Summit 2013

Planning how to go about demolishing a structure takes knowledge and experience. Even when everything goes according to plan, something can go wrong, and you have to account for every eventuality. When we're talking about large sturctures in built-up areas, the consequences of a mistake or miscalculation can be huge.

Taking the risk out of the process is key, and Dr. Ahmed Amir Khalil of Applied Sciences International plans to show us one way of doing that during a presentation at the Demolition Summit 2013 later this year. Dr. Kalil will demonstrate how the demolition process can be modelled and simulated before the job even starts. You can see each eventuality and adjust accordingly, all done on a computer, not the actual site.
