C&D customer Connell Brothers at work in Hull

C&D customer Connell Brothers has set to work demolishing the Laxthorpe tower block on Orchard Park in the north of Hull.

The original plan was to use explosive demolition to raise the Laxthorpe block and already demolished Kinthorpe building to the ground, but the close proximity of other buildings took that option off the table after review. Instead, Connell Brothers have been contracted to demolish both blocks. Once down, this site and another called Highcourt being demolished in early 2015 will be redeveloped for housing.

Award winning Connell Brothers

It is always nice when a C&D customer makes the news but it particularly nice when they make the news for winning awards as in the case of Connell Brothers who have won awards for their work in Rochdale.

Craig Wilkinson has been the C&D auditor on this site and he has commented on the excellent standard of work during his fortnightly visits so it is nice to see that other bodies appreciate the work done by Connell.

The full story can be viewed at the Rochdale Online website.

Long term C&D customer Connell Brothers have been busy demolishing in Rochdale as part of a £100 million town centre regeneration project.

The aim is to create a new mixed use retail and leisure area, but first three structures must be taken down by Connell Brothers. The first is city centre bus station, then they'll move on to the Black Box municipal office building, and then finish with Telegraph House on Bailie Street. In total, that's an expected 34 weeks of work.

Site audits for this project are undertaken by our very own Craig Wilkinson.

Connell Brothers renew training orders with C&D

Connell Brothers in Manchester have renewed the training agreement with C&D, which will see us deliver manual handling workshops and abrasive wheel training to all sites over the next 6 weeks.

Connell have decided that it is cost effective to carry out training of operatives at site on the same day as C&D carry out site visits thus reducing the time the guys are away from the workplace, reducing fuel costs in travelling to a dedicated training venue, and making the training relative to the real working environment. The training will be delivered by John Woodward and Craig Wilkinson.
