Institute of Quarrying follow the IDE lead by making CPD compulsory

The Institute of Quarrying follow the IDE lead by making CPD compulsory for all grades of member. It was called for by their members in a bid to raise standards even higher for those qualified to carry the letters FIQ, MIQ, and TMIQ.

The new CPD requirement for Technical Members (TMIQ), Members (MIQ) and Fellows (FIQ) will take effect 1 January 2015. It requires 35 hours minimum of Continuing Professional Development every single year, and annual audits will now call for a CPD record to be presented. Associate and Student grades are also being encouraged to partake in the CPD requirements, although it is not mandatory at those levels.

South West & Wales Municipal Vehicle Show next week

This is just a quick reminder that the South West & Wales Municipal Vehicle Show is happening next Wednesday, 6th July.

The reason you may be interested is because that same event includes the CIWM Regional Seminar which contributes 4 hours towards the 30 hours required for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). It's also a chance to get bang up-to-date with the latest legislation, best practices and technological changes within the wastes and resources management industry.

The exhibition starts at 9:30am and runs to 4:30pm. It is being held in Berkeley, Gloucestershire just off the A38 between J13 and J14 of the M5. Parking is free, and there's an Arrive & Drive Experience with Dennis Eagle and Isuzu Trucks to enjoy too.
