Tarfside Oval towers in Glasgow imploded

C&D Consultancy are proud to have been appointed as Principal Designer for the demolition of four tower blocks at Tarfside Oval, Cardonald, Glasgow by Dem-master. Three of the towers had their top 16 floors brought down last Sunday, footage of which can be seen below.



If you're wondering about that fourth block, it will be demolished using a high reach as it is too close to housing to risk using explosives. Once down, the site will be cleared ready for 50 new homes to be built starting late 2016.

Glasgow Housing Association select 3 demolition contractors

The Glasgow Housing Association has selected three demolition contractors to carry out major demolition work between now and 2017. The three contractors and the value of the work assigned to them is as follows:

• Safedem - £4.7 million
• Technical Demolition Services - £4.1 million
• Dem-Master - £1.1 million

Seven companies were in the running for the work, but the three that won already have proven track records working with the association.

The good news now is how much of a difference the contracted work will make to the Glasgow skyline. In total, many high rise flats will be demolished, over 2,000 flats will go, and a further 250 low rise flats are also earmarked for removal, ready for land redevelopment.
