NFDC members emerge triumphant at Demolition Awards

The NFDC is celebrating a good showing from NFDC members at the Demolition Awards 2010:

"A large number of NFDC members had been shortlisted in a number of categories but it was down to Armac Group to clinch the Civils Demolition award and Maylarch to claim the Training Award.

A (not very surprising) surprise award for Demolition Personality of the Year Award went to the NFDC’s chief executive officer Howard Button, an achievement that must surely mark him as the most decorated and respected person in the global demolition business.
"

NFDC president David Darsey was also celebrating as his Erith Group won the Industrial Demolition Award, shared the Urban Demolition Award, and got the coveted Contractor of the Year award too.

Cuddy in the running for hat-trick of international awards

Cuddy has battled against stiff competition from North and South America, Western and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East, and is now in the running for ‘contract of the year’, ‘the demolition training award’ and the ultimate ‘contractor of the year’ honour. Award winners will be announced at the Hotel Okura in Amsterdam on November 5.

Designed to recognise technical, environmental and safety excellence among demolition contractors large and small, the awards are a celebration of worldwide industry achievements.

Speaking of the shortlist announcement, Cuddy Group managing director Mike Cuddy said:

This dedicated award scheme highlights the leaders in the specialist field of demolition. The judging panel comprises some of the industry’s most highly-acclaimed experts, and we’ve been told that competition this year was fierce.

To be shortlisted in not one but three categories is therefore a great achievement, but we look forward to the all-important ceremony in November, when we hope our hard work will truly be recognised.

2010 has already been a great year for us, but to scoop one of these prestigious awards would be the icing on the cake.

Cuddy Group offers a wide range of integrated services including demolition, civil engineering, asbestos removal, decommissioning and land remediation

Demolition Awards entries exceed expectations

Regular visitors to this website will know that John Woodward sits on the judging panel for the Demolition Awards 2010, following on from a similar involvement last year, and he spent the whole of last weekend, plus part of this week, carrying out this year’s judging.

The number of entries was greater this year and the quality, across all categories, was excellent with strong entries from the UK, Italy, Brazil and USA in particular.

When all of the individual judges have carried out their work they will meet at the Rookery Hotel in London on Wednesday, 15th September to agree on the shortlist for all categories which will be announced by KHL on Thursday, 16th September.

Those companies shortlisted will then go forward to a second round of judging nearer to the event itself, on 5th November at Hotel Okura, Amsterdam, where the winners will be announced.

D&Ri editor Lindsay Gale said:

I certainly do not envy the task facing this year’s judges

and seeing how much effort John put into the judging this week we agree with Lindsay.

Further details of the judging can be found at here
