Dorton Demolition's Duke Harvey becomes the "Ringmaster" of Circus Street, Brighton

Dorton Group is currently hard at work on Circus Street in Brighton where they have been tasked with demolishing an old municipal market building.

Work started in late September, but is expected to continue until the end of the year. Once the site is cleared, construction work will begin in early 2016 reusing all of the wood and steel from the demolition phase, as well as using materials from it for concrete.

The regeneration will include 142 new homes, accommodation for 450 students through new dorms, exhibition space, and a new library and academic building for the University of Brighton. It's also expected to create 400 jobs.

Dorton make Training & Safety award categories for 2nd year running

Dorton Group is very happy to report that they have managed to make the shortlist for both the Training and Safety categories at the Demolition Awards 2010. This is the second year they have been nominated in both categories.

Dorton was founded in 1985 and has a head office in West Sussex but works nationally. We wish them all the best at the Demolition Summit on November 5th where the award winners will be announced.

Demolition of Brighton's West Pier by Dorton Group

C&D customer Dorton Group are having a smashing time at Brighton Pier. Dorton has been awarded the contract to finally clear away the fire damaged Brighton Pier and the video above is the first footage of the work being carried out.

Dorton Group suffers major attachment theft

Demolition contractor Dorton Group has unfortunately been the victim of a major theft over the Bank Holiday weekend. Their premises at Burgess Hill were broken into and thieves have stolen a number of machine parts. Here's an excerpt from the e-mail Terry Quamby sent describing the theft:

They brought with them a Hiab lorry, sawed off the tongue to the gate latch, smashed the alarms and lighting standards, ripped out the electric cables and overturned at least 10 pallets and stillages of reclaimed materials to get their lorry through. They smashed a window and door lock on the 7 tonner to move it and broke off all the locks to the storage containers but do not appear to have taken anything from them.

Altogether we lost 4 x selector grabs, 1 x pulverisor and 2 x hammers. Details of which are as follows:
