ICM's next regional meeting is November 17th

The next Institute of Construction Management regional meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 17th at the St. Francis Social Club at the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath with refreshment available from 6pm.

The topic for the meeting will be “The VIC-96 Steamship Restoration” by Jim Hatfield

Programme:

18.00 - Registration and Coffees with light refreshments
18.45 - Welcome and Introduction – Roy Blamey - Chairman
19.00 - The VIC-9 Steamship Restoration by Jim Hatfield

This meeting features Jim Hatfield and his Steam Ship VIC-96 and will include details about the ship itself and the teamwork involved with the restoration of a 1945 vessel as close to the original as possible and the challenges of keeping it in running order and putting to sea.

Jim is a Chartered Surveyor, and has many interests that make him an informative and interesting speaker and previously spoke on the Tay Bridge Disaster

Forty Years of the Institute of Construction Management

The celebration to mark the milestone 40th anniversary of the Institute of Construction Management, is fast approaching. Alongside former Past President of the Institute of Demolition Engineers, John Woodward, there will be speakers from The Association of Project Safety, Spillards Safety Systems, the Construction Industry Training Board, and even an ex-footballer.

All with a 40 years theme, Philip Baker from the APS will be talking about the new CDM regulations whilst Craig Spillard will be explaining how Vehicle safety systems have improved. Seamus Hanna from the CITB will talking Building Information Modelling and ex-professional footballer Mel Eves will be talking about motivational management.

It promises to be an informative and enjoyable event, so if you can join us on the 16th October at the Four Pillars Hotel at the Cotswold Water Park near Cirencester, you will be most welcome.

Institute of Construction Management launch corporate membership scheme

Following many requests from suppliers to the construction industry the Institute of Construction Management have launched a new scheme of corporate membership which allows businesses to support the Institute, attend all regional meetings to present their products and to attend the annual AGM.

The scheme will work on various levels with initial membership from as little as £100.00 per annum if regional rather than national membership is required. Former IDE President Terry Quarmby to speak to Institute of Construction Management

A number of members of the Institute of Demolition Engineers are also members of the Institute of Construction Management. To continue with closer collaboration between the two institutes Terry Quarmby has agreed to give a talk on “Demolition- Methods, Tools, Processes” to the South East Region of the IConstM on Tuesday 12th July 2011 at Haywards Heath.

The talk starts at 18.00 and is free to attend for all IConstM and IDE members and will allow you to obtain 2 CPD hours.
