Introduction
The course will be of particular interest to those with a direct or indirect responsibility for the management of asbestos in the workplace. Furthermore, the training is suitable for individuals who will come into contact with Asbestos as part of their daily work activity.
Aims
To give individuals a through understanding of the dangers of confined spaces. To enable individuals to enter, work and leave confined spaces including a vertical shaft, using escape nets. To train individuals in rescue techniques and gas detection.
The Course includes:
The course covers the following modules:
* Current legislation - Confined Space Regulation 1997
* Recognition of confined spaces
* Dangers associated with these areas inc. film 'Confined Space Entry'.
* Human respiratory system
* Use of gas detection equipment in hazardous atmospheres
* Use of personal protection equipment i.e. ropes harnesses and man- riding hoists
* Use of escape breathing apparatus and escape sets
* Pre- entry checks on entry equipment
* Safe systems of work
* Methods of communication
* Manning levels
* Emergency procedures and rescue techniques
* Practical exercises including:-
o Practical use of escape set and breathing apparatus
o Vertical entry and egress using a tripod and winch
* Diseases and personal hygiene associated with confined spaces
* Awareness of resuscitation equipment, and resuscitation techniques
* Awareness of the need for monthly examinations of equipment
This course can also be provided as an in-house course. However, access to a confined space must be available for practical training.
Delegates will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.
