First Aid Appointed Person

Introduction

The minimum requirement of an employer is to appoint a person to take charge of the first aid arrangements. This includes looking after the equipment and facilities and calling emergency services when required. Arrangements should be made for an appointed person to be available to undertake these duties at all times when people are at work.

Aims

The course covers the absolute minimum emergency first aid, but goes on to cover more procedures for attending to injuries or illnesses more likely to be encountered in particular workplace settings. It also covers occurrences which may not be life threatening, but if promptly and correctly treated may reduce stress and suffering and lead to the reduction in the amount of lost work time.
