Introduction
A practical programme involving demonstrations and practising life saving techniques giving the ability to deliver First Aid in the workplace.
Candidates must hold and produce a First Aid at Work Certificate or First Aid at Work Refresher Certificate, which is valid for the duration of the training, prior to the course booking being confirmed. This can be renewed up to 3 months early with the unexpired portion being added to the new certificate. Candidates must be aware that they must attend all sessions for the full duration.
Aims
The course aims to refresh the training for the delegates who need to renew a valid First Aid at Work certificate. To provide a refresher course in Life Saving Skills and First Aid skills.
The Course includes:
* Priorities of first aid
* Managing an incident
* Roles/responsibilities of employers and employees for first aid at work
* Care of the unconscious casualty
* Cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
* Disorders of the airway
* Dealing with bleeding and shock
* Causes of unconsciousness
* Burns and scalds
* Injuries to bones, ligaments & joints
* Poisoning
* Recognition and management of major illnesses
* Recognition of minor illnesses and appropriate action
* Eye injuries
* Miscellaneous injuries
* Record keeping and accident reporting
* Infection control
* Communication and delegation in an emergency
* Manage the transportation of the casualty
Upon completion of the course, a Emergency First Response certificate will be issued that is valid for three years.
Emergency First Response courses are based on internationally recognised medical guidelines for emergency care – guidelines produced through a consensus process of practising professionals in the emergency medical field. Educationally the courses reflect a well researched instructional design for this type of training.
Delegates will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.
