Heavy machinery key to laying new train tracks

On Demolish and Dismantle we tend to focus on the machinery used in demolition jobs. But occasionally we come across a machine that's worth sharing because the thought and work that has gone into getting it right is quite staggering.

The video you see below demonstrates how new railway track is laid. If you look at historical footage of how the first tracks were laid it was a very labor intensive job requiring hundreds of men. Today, as the video demonstrates, a handful of men are present just to keep an eye on things and carry out a few of the minor jobs.

All the work is carried out by a few specialized machines, which have about a dozen tasks to do at once all while sitting on the tracks they are laying.

I hate to think how much a setup like this costs.
