London's Shard becomes UK's tallest building at 72 storeys

The UK officially has a new tallest building. It's the Shard building located in central London and it towers 72 storeys high.

The building is not completed yet, but the core central structure has been meaning it now stands 244 meters high. It will go higher though, with the final structure being 310 meters high and 87 storeys, providing 595,000 square feet of office space.

In constructing the Shard a few new records have been set including:

• London's longest ever concrete pour at 5,500 cubic meters over 36 hours


• UK's tallest crane at 255 meters high
