Suffolk home demolished before the sea consumes it

A home that has been in a family for four generations was demolished last week due to coastal erosion.

The house was located on the Easton Bavents, Suffolk coast, and due to the rate of coastal erosion was just 80 meters away from being consumed by the sea. According to the owner, sea defenses were in place years ago, but they got cancelled by Natural England meaning the inevitable was going to happen.

Another scheme called Pathfinder was setup to help relocate residents, but ultimately locals have been given a choice: demolish your home now, or face a much larger bill for cleaning up the mess on the beach when the house ultimately fell off the cliff.
