Demo Expo 2015 just gets better & better!

This year's Demo Expo, the joint venture between the IDE and NFDC, being held on 26th & 27th June just gets better by the day.

Sponsors and exhibitors grow daily with the majority of the outside space already taken and marquee space fully booked.

Here at C&D we booked our stand several months ago and we are now looking forward to the event. The NFDC have issued the flyer you see above as a reminder that:-

- The event is free entry.
- Saturday is "Family Day"
- Demolition plant from all of the major manufacturers will be on show.

C&D Consultancy Golf Day 2014 date set, book now

Following the success of last years C&D Golf Day we are again holding an event this year on Wednesday 4th June 2014. The course being played is Astbury Hall built to USGA standard and home of Ryder Cup Legend Darren Clarke, and we are lucky enough to be playing prior to a European Pro Tour event so the course will be in pristine condition (well until we've all hacked our way around it anyway!!!)

The course is tucked away in the heart of the Shropshire countryside and is set over 300 acres of rolling hills, measuring 6,500 yards it's a par 71 with a tactical mix of strategically placed bunkers and creeping bent grass greens. It should prove a challenge to golfers of all abilities!!

Cost for the day will be £50 per person and the day will comprise of-

Breakfast- Bacon Rolls
1st tee off time- 10am
2 Course Meal- Steak & Ale pie, Chips & Fresh veg, followed by Apple Crumble & Custard

EDA announce Demolition Forum June 12-14

The European Demolition Association has announced the 2014 Demolition Forum, which will happen between June 12-14 in Madrid, Spain.

The aim of the Forum is to be an open conference where all the related industries to the deconstruction process could work together towards this mutual goal.

On June 12th and 13th there will be a Professional program including an optional visit to SRR - Recycling and Recovery Trade Fair 2014 and the demolition jobsite: “Interior demolition of a building complex in Madrid.” The Leisure program includes a Welcome cocktail, guided visit to San Lorenzo del Escorial and surroundings (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and shopping, and an exclusive Gala Dinner in the “Gran Casino de Madrid”, with live entertainment and a unique location.

Saturday, 14th June is a Visit Madrid day where you can discover the most important sights of the city: Cibeles, Las Ventas bullring, Bernabeu’s Stadium or the Main Square are part of this guided visit on a panoramic tour. It will be followed by a traditional Spanish meal at a typical restaurant and, to conclude, a visit to the Royal Palace.

Attending the Demolition Forum requires a Conference Ticket which will cost 295 euros for members of EDA/IACDS/EDI/FIR, 395 euros for members of National Associations, and 495 euros for everyone else. Those prices are for registrations before April 30th. After that and they increase by 100 euros each.

The Leisure ticket, Gala dinner, and Visit Madrid tour cost 195, 175, and 95 euros respectively before April 30th. After that they increase by 50 euros each.

IDE's Golf Day 2014 announced

You can always tell when the winter months are coming to an end because news of the annual IDE Golf Day starts to appear. And it's that time of year again.

The IDE Golf Day 2014 will occur on the 18th June at the London Golf Club in New Ash Green, Kent. Members are invited to play at one of Europe’s most impressive Golf courses with fellow IDE members. And of course, you are welcome to bring guests.

The day will start at 10am with a hearty bacon roll before teeing off at 11am. Following 18 holes of Golf there will be dinner and an awards presentation beginning at 5pm.

If you would like to attend what is always a fun day out, the IDE needs the £60 price of entry paid in full before the 1st June. The booking form can be downloaded here, with full instructions on how to pay included.

Demo Expo visitor numbers continue to grow

The first UK Demo Expo jointly arranged by the IDE and the NFDC has seen ticket sales increase over the last few days as the industry realises that this is THE SHOW to go to and be seen at.

With a full seminar programme on the Friday, for which tickets are needed priced at £50.00 each (available from the NFDC) and a FREE plant show on both Friday 28th and Saturday 29th June the show is proving to be very popular.

Both days have been designed to be children friendly with rides, face painting, ice creams and competitions. Parking is FREE, the shuttle bus from Birmingham Airport and Birmingham International Station is FREE and all the rides are, you've guessed it -FREE!

If you haven't put the dates in your diary yet then do so NOW and get yourselves down to Demo Expo 2013 or you will regret it, as where else can you see BIG MACHINES, attachments, ride in a dump truck on an off-road course, buy some new workwear, eat ice cream and talk about all things demolition?

Groundbreaking Demolition Exhibition comes to Birmingham

The IDE and NFDC have, for the last few years, held exhibtions around the UK to promote the skills that we have in demolition and the diverse techniques available. Whilst each organisation's events have been successful and supported by the other organisation there has never been a joint event to showcase all skills in one place - until NOW!

The IDE and NFDC have now joined forces to present the Demo -Expo in Birmingham on 28th and 29th June 2013. This new event will be held at the premises of Armac Group at Bickenhill, near to Birmingham Airport, Birmingham International mainline station and the M42 motorway so the venue could not be easier to get to.

The event is split into 2 distinct days to give you the choice of CPD related presentations on the Friday and a fun day with the children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces etc on the Saturday.

The Friday, 28th June, will be opened and closed by the NFDC President William Sinclair and IDE President Steve Jack will be one of the speakers on the day. The day will involve presentations in the main marquee on demolition related topics such as current HSE issues, bridge demolition and explosive demolition coupled with external display areas with free awareness training on quickhitch, hot works and other related topics along with plant displays from Leibherr, Volvo and others. Tickets for the Friday are priced at £50.00 per head if you want to attend the seminar, the plant show is free. Saturday is a free admission day and what a day Saturday 29th June will be!!!

We have the actual CAT machine from the James Bond movie Skyfall, dump trucks for test and passenger rides, the 22RB driver challenge, (if you are a driver of a 22RB then come and test yourself against other demolition drivers to see if you can win the 22RB challenge), bouncy castle, face painting, free food, free ice creams, free parking as well (including ring and ride). In fact they do not intend to charge you a penny to attend so why not put the dates into your Google calendar or your diary and get down to DEMO - EXPO 2013 as you know that you want to.

CIWM Conference 2011 - book your place now

The CIWM Conference 2011, in partnership with ESA, takes place on the 14th and 15th June at The Royal College of Surgeons in London this year.

Here's a desription of what to expect over the two day event:

"The exceptionally strong programme covers all the key issues facing our sector today and provides valuable CPD points. Day one kicks off with a stimulating Question Time-style debate about the UK's progress from waste to resource management, before moving on to focus on the major review of the Government waste policy in England, the results of which will be published in May. We hope to have a Defra Minister on the platform to discuss the new vision for waste in England, followed by key figures from the waste sector and beyond debating how to deliver success.

The second day concentrates on other major issues and challenges facing the sector including planning, localism and Big Society, and partnership working. CIWM and ESA's objective is to bring public, private and voluntary sector individuals together to tackle some of the challenges and opportunities ahead and cement strategic alliances to ensure our industry continues to play a pivotal role in delivering a more sustainable future."

The price of a ticket depends on your membership. CIWM or ESA members can get a one-day pass for £126, or a two-day pass for £226.80. Non-members pay more at £225 and £405 respectively.

IMechE Seminar Redundant Plant: Engineering and Safety

We have just been told of a seminar happening later this year by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) covering ageing plant decommissions.

Here's the blurb of what will be covered during Redundant Plant: Engineering and Safety seminar:

The work required to decommission a plant depends on a number of options that need to be followed in the longer term. These include mothballing, dismantling and sale and demolition; understanding the implications of these actions is essential in the preparation.

Understand the safety aspects that must be considered when assessing how redundant plants should be managed, including the presence of asbestos and the implications of regulations and codes of practice; key industry experts will present all the options and discuss the actions required.
