Drone captures fantastic footage of superhigh reach machine at SightHill in Glasgow

The footage you see above was captured by a drone being flown remotely and with its cameras trained on the superhigh reach machine of Technical Demolition Services.

This is actually the last of the blocks of flats at SightHill in Glasgow. What a fitting way to see it for the last time.

John Woodward to speak to Association of Project Safety Scottish Regional Meeting next week

John recently completed a Round the UK tour of speaking engagements for APS that was very well received and he has now been asked to return to the APS to speak to the Scotland East Region on Tuesday, 18th September.

The talk "Things that go bang in the night (..and in the day)" is about explosive demolition contracts north of the border carried out by Safedem, Coleman and Company and TDS/PDC, and will include video footage of the schemes where C&D have been involved and will show the teamwork required from all parties to achieve successful blowdowns.

The talk will take place at Rooms 3/07 & 3/08, Edinburgh Napier University, Craiglockhart Campus, Colinton Road, Edinburgh, EH14 1DJ between 18.00 and 20.00.

The regional APS meeting normally has 2 speakers at each occasion and it may be that John is the first to speak so we suggest that, if you are going, and we hope that you are, you get there for just before 18.00 for the tea and coffee.

Glencairn Tower to fall November 20th

The date has been set for the 1964, 17 storey Glencairn Tower to fall. On November 20th Technical Demolition Services will drop the flats from the skyline of Motherwell and bring to an end a project whose costs have escalated.

The original contract price was £703,400, but the survey carried out failed to identify asbestos throughout the tower adding a further £380,000. Scottish Power has also submitted a bill for £87,400 due to a need to re-route a power cable.

No details have been made available as to exactly when the demolition will occur, but we hope cameras will be setup to capture the event.

TDS make good progress with demolition of Plean Street, Glasgow

TDS are well underway with the high reach demolition of Plean Street tower blocks in Glasgow for GHA with the 777 Ultra High Reach machine.

This demolition, on which C&D are CDM-C, is one of two in Glasgow where Ultra High Reach is the preferred method, the other being the Coleman & Co job at Broomloan Court.

This morning's photo shows the 777 machine about to continue with the demolition on a lovely sunny Glasgow morning.

TDS underway with demolition of Plean Street, Glasgow

TDS have commenced work on the high reach demolition of Plean Street tower blocks in Glasgow with the 777 Ultra High Reach machine.

This demolition, on which C&D are CDM-C, is one of two in Glasgow where Ultra High Reach is the preferred method, the other being the Coleman & Co job at Broomloan Court.

GHA originally awarded the contract to TDS for a double blow down of the towers but subsequently lengthy discussion meant a change in method to high reach. The first block, which sits at the rear of the site, is being demolished first to allow the project team to satisfy themselves as to the way the tower will behave during the demolition process.

Sighthill flats demolition took just 15 seconds

The Sighthill flats, located in Glasgow were demolished early Sunday morning and were gone in just 15 seconds.

The video above was recorded just a few streets away in Carlisle Street and shows just how well the demolition went. C&D worked closely with Technical Demolition Services who did a fantastic job during the whole demolition process.

In total there were 684 flats which were originally built in 1969.

C&D Consultancy Golf Day Results

The inaugural C&D golf day was held on Thursday 7th May at Ingestre Park Golf Club near Stafford. It was attended by 14 golfers from C&D clients, all of whom enjoyed the day fully and went home with a prize for their efforts.
