Repeat training order for C&D from EDS Limited

EDS Limited have appointed C&D to carry out their Environmental Awareness training for their site personnel training programme for 2012.

Following successful delivery of Demolition Awareness training courses for a number of their site managers in 2011 EDS Limited have today re-appointed C&D Consultancy as their training providers for a new Environmental Awareness course running throughout 2012.

The one day course will be delivered by John Woodward on all EDS sites throughout the UK starting in July 2012.

This new order, following on from other orders confirmed in the last few days reinforces C&D's position as one of the leading demolition training providers in the UK.

Asbestos contractor Silverdell buys demolition contractor EDS

Demolition contractor EDS has been acquired for the sum of £15 million. The buyer is Silverdell, an asbestos contractor who has bought the firm in order to unlock access to a number of international clients. Those clients include Exxon, Pfizer, Rolls Royce, and Shell. But that is just the beginning as EDS already has a presence in Australia, Canada, and China, as well as in the UK.

The seed was planted for an acquisition when both companies shared the work on the Magnox demolition framework contract. Now Silverdell has to find the funds in order to complete the deal, which it intends to do partially by share placing in a bid to raise £8.8 million.

Silverdell has a long history going back to when the company was first formed in 1979. Now, with EDS integrating into their future business, Silverdell hope to win a number of larger contracts in new locations around the world.

Training orders renewed for C&D Consultancy

We are delighted to announce that C&D have had training orders renewed by a number of our regular clients over the last 24 hours. Our recent decisions to revamp a number of our courses have proved to be correct with another flood of orders to the office during yesterday.

The new orders include:-

• 1000 hours of training for EDS on the new C&D Hot Works course.
• 1000 hours of training for EDS on Work at Height and Rescue Plans.
• 100 hours for City Demolition (Birmingham) Limited for Demolition & Asbestos Awareness.
• 60 hours for City Demolition (Birmingham) Limited for Manual Handling.
• 100 hours for Frank O’Gara and Sons for Asbestos Awareness & Manual Handling.
• 1000 hours for Total Reclaims Limited for Demolition & Asbestos Awareness. 200 hours for CMR Demolition Limited for structural awareness.
• 100 hours for various clients on the new open to all recently launched C&D Behaviour and Stress Management course.

The courses will be delivered by the C&D training team between now and the end of March in venues around the country.

EDS handed keys to Tetley brewery in Leeds

The Tetley brewery in Leeds was closed down on the 17th June this year after a 189 year history of brewing. The site has 37 buildings, all but 7 of which are set to be torn down by EDS Limited, who were handed the keys to the site earlier this week.

Although a sad day for historians and those that form the Leeds Campaign for Real Ale, at least some of the buildings are being kept and hopefully transformed into useful locations once again. The Tetley's headquarters building, for example, will become a Project Space Leeds art gallery, at least temporarily.

At its peak, the brewery was producing 185 million pints of Tetley's Bitter every year. It also handled production of other smaller brands including Skol. The brewing of Tetley's has now moved to Northampton.

The demolition work will continue until the middle of next year. Discussions continue between current owners Carlsberg and the local council as to what to do with the site once it is cleared. Let's hope it becomes a success story of regeneration and manages to replace more than the 179 jobs lost when the brewery finally closed earlier this year.

C&D Consultancy Golf Day Results

The inaugural C&D golf day was held on Thursday 7th May at Ingestre Park Golf Club near Stafford. It was attended by 14 golfers from C&D clients, all of whom enjoyed the day fully and went home with a prize for their efforts.
