Construction and Demolition Sector Event - 25th March
An event is being held on the 25th March to discuss the waste produced by the demolition industry and how to manage it.
Venue: Main meeting room, 15 Hatfields, London SE1 8DJ
Registration from 1.15 pm
Event from 2pm to 4pm
Description of the event:
Resource efficiency is a term to describe the improved use of material resources, including waste reduction. The construction sector consumes around 370 million tonnes of material each year and produces an estimated 100 million tonnes of waste. The demolition industry plays an important role in reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill. The demolition industry produces approximately 30 million tonnes of waste every year and has high recycling rates, with 90% of demolition waste often being recovered. The challenge is to ensure that these recycling rates remain high. Through the NFDC, the industry is launching a commitment and associated plan with actions throughout the supply chain to maintain these high recovery rates.
