C&D would like to say "Thank you" to all of our customers who put their faith in the company in 2013 to deliver Demolition Consultancy and CDM-C Services on a variety of projects with values from £100,000 to £4 million throughout the UK.
Your faith in us has seen our turnover grow steadily again this year and our involvement in high profile projects increase, particularly in the demolition of towerblocks by explosives, high reach and top down methods, so much so that we are currently involved in over 30 multi storey projects throughout the UK.
We have decided this year that instead of sending Christmas cards and bottles of whisky we will make donations on behalf of our customers to a number of local charities. They traditionally struggle to get funding and so even a small donation is gratefully received and used directly to fund their work, rather than being used to fund the salaries of executives.
On behalf of those charities we say "Thank You C&D customers"
Finally we wish you a Merry Christmas and we hope that you have a prosperous 2014!

CITB training grants deadline fast approaches
The time you have left to put in a claim for the 2012/2013 Grants Scheme can now be counted in days. The closing date is Thursday, October 31st.
Louise Calam of the NFDC sent through the following guidance:
"All eligible employers who are registered with CITB will have until Thursday, October 31st to put in their claims for training carried out or for the achievement of approved qualifications between August 1st 2012 to July 31st 2013. In addition to the existing grant available, those that have made and had a grant claim accepted during the 2012/2013 Grants Scheme year will be eligible for the Exceptional Training Grant (ETG) – a scheme launched earlier this year to incentivise training.
The ETG, a £30m incentivisation scheme agreed by CITB’s Training Committee, will be based on a percentage of all grants claimed by employers and will be paid automatically to eligible claimants (normal Grants Scheme rules apply) in December 2013. The ETG will also apply to training taken in the 2013/2014 Grants Scheme year and will be paid December 2014."
If you need more information, then please visit the grant page on the CITB website.

2013 C&D Golf Day is October 2nd
Well the time is nearly here for the 2013 C&D Golf Day, I’m sure its going to be a great day for all. If you haven’t played at Wergs before it’s quite an open course, no real rough as fairways are separated by trees, which if your not hitting too straight can prove a challenge in themselves. The greens can give some tricky putts and all in all it’s a well presented course that shouldn’t cost too many balls and should hopefully see some good scores shot.

John Woodward is confirmed as a judge for the World Demolition Awards 2013
Regular readers of this site will know that John has been a judge of the World Demolition Awards since their inception and we are delighted to announce that he has, once again, been selected for the judging panel this time around.
The prestigious award ceremony will take place in Amsterdam again this year on Thursday 31st October and tickets will sell quickly. Below is the article that ran in the D&Ri newsletter, which contains details of the Awards:
The closing date for submissions for the 2013 World Demolition Awards of Friday 26 July 2013 is fast approaching. As was the case in previous years and due to the success of the event, now in its fifth year, and the resulting number of entries that are expected, no entries received at the KHL office after that date will put before the judges for assessment. Full details of how to enter are available at www.demolitionsummit.com or www.khl.com/events.
As always, the judging panel who will determine the final winners is made up of leading industry figures from around the world. Full details on these individuals are also available on the website. In line with the cooperative agreement between D&Ri/KHL and the European Demolition Association, the only new face on the panel this year results from forthcoming changes of the latter’s office bearers. Outgoing EDA president Giuseppe Panseri steps down and is replaced by incoming EDA vice president William Sinclair, who also currently holds the office of National Federation of Demolition Contractors president. D&Ri would like to express our thanks to these individuals who once again are willing to take on the challenge of determining the best the demolition industry has to offer. In fact, four of the eight judges have served on the panel from the first year of the event – dedication to the industry indeed!
Should you have any questions concerning the event, whether to do with the entry procedure, the judging process or any other matter, please contact D&Ri’s editor Lindsay Gale on +44 (0)1892 786210 or by email to lindsay.gale@khl.com.

More CDM-C appointments for C&D
Our normal post at C&D sees a bundle of leaflets for stairlifts, life insurance and bulb catalogues sprinkled with bills and the odd cheque, but Friday's post was a post to remember as we received 5 orders for CDM-C projects throughout the UK.
The contracts vary in size from £30,000 to £1 million, and we are now clearing our desks to start work on them. These orders are the result of continual improvement in the service that we give to our customers and are all repeat business, which is particularly pleasing as customer retention is very important to us at C&D.
Over the last six months we have seen demand for our demolition consultancy grow by 30% and that growth will see us head into 2013 with the best forward order book in our history.
