Total Reclaims is working 120 feet in the sky

The Nottingham Post recently featured work on Lenton Flats by C&D customer Total Reclaims Limited. The job requires scaling 16 flights of scaffolding stairs in order to reach the top, some 120 feet in the air.

So far four floors have been removed using electro-hydraulic breaker Brokks. One floor is dismantled at a time, and one concrete panel at a time. The flats were 17 storeys tall, but Total Reclaims has got that down to 13 in just 8 weeks. When they reach 11, then the Brokks work stops and a 360 excavator with a 35 metre reach takes over to demolish the rest.

120 foot Abbey Court tower block is slowly getting shorter

Tower blocks are usually destined to be imploded, but there's situations where that's either not desirable or even possible. In the case of the 120-foot high Abber Court tower block in Lenton, Nottingham, a team of demolition workers from Total Reclaims are demolishing it a floor at a time.

Each day the team climbs up 16 flights of scaffolding stairs to reach the top and continue their work. It's already 28 feet shorter than when they started, which account for the top 4 floors.

In total the contract has created 24 jobs, including 4 apprentice positions, and is using a Brokks electro-hydraulic breaker to take down the concrete panels the building is constructed from one at a time. There was 17 floors in total, and when they get that down to 11 the crew moves out and the 360 Excavator moves in to finish the job quickly.

When the block is down, Nottingham City Homes will begin building 400 council homes.

C&D customer Total Reclaims Demolition creates new jobs

We are very pleased to report that C&D customer Total Reclaims Demolition is creating new jobs to deal with additional business in Nottingham.

Business is so good that the demolition contractor has taken on over 30 new staff to cope with demand. The main reason for this expansion is a new contract that sees Total working on a council regeneration programme.

Total Reclaims Demolition is demolishing five 16 storey blocks in Nottingham

Total Reclaims Demolition is in the midst of a big contract job in Nottingham, which will see the company bring down five sets of 1960s 16-storey blocks of flats. The flats will be replaced by new council homes as part of an ongoing regeneration project.

The first of the blocks to come down is Lenton Court, and luckily for us the whole process was caught on camera. If you'd like to see how it progressed click on the link below as unfortunately there's no way to embed the video.

Local students visit Lenton blocks in Nottingham

C&D customer Total Reclaims is knocking down five tower blocks in Park Street and Lombard Close in Nottingham. They are known as the Lenton tower blocks and are being cleared for 142 new homes to built over the next 4 years.

17 lucky students from the Edna G Olds Academy recently got to attend the demolition of the first 90 flats from the 12th floor of one of the blocks. This involved actually visiting the 12th floor and getting to ask lots of questions. As well as seeing Nottingham from a very high viewpoint, all the students were intrigued about the work, and hopefully some of them will choose to investigate further and maybe even enter the industry one day.

If you happen to be visiting the Lenton blocks before the towers have been fully removed, you should be able to see pictures the students created after their visit present on the security fencing surrounding the site.

Another CDM-C contract won

C&D are pleased to announce that they have been awarded the contract to act as CDM-C on a major demolition project in Nottingham. Total Reclaims Demolition have been awarded the demolition works, and they in turn have awrded the CDM-C duites to C&D Consultancy.

This latest award is yet another CDM-C demolition project for the C&D team and reinforces our position in the Demolition Specific CDM-C marketplace.

Another major CDM-C appointment for C&D

C&D are pleased to announce that they have been appointed CDM-C for the demolition and site clearance works at Gibbons Industrial in Nottingham.

The 20-week contract will see Total Reclaims Demolition Limited demolish the former factory units down to ground level, remove the slab and foundations, and crush all hardcore.

This appointment strengthens C&D presence in the East Midlands.
