Enjoy some old demolition footage captured in 1971

NFDC CEO Howard Button was surfing the web recently when he came across the footage you see below by chance. We thank him for sharing it with us.

The video contains previously unused footage of demolition works carried out in 1971. There's no information about the jobs being done or their location beyong a street sign in the video which clearly states The Royal Borough of Kensington. We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did.

Total Reclaims Demolition is demolishing five 16 storey blocks in Nottingham

Total Reclaims Demolition is in the midst of a big contract job in Nottingham, which will see the company bring down five sets of 1960s 16-storey blocks of flats. The flats will be replaced by new council homes as part of an ongoing regeneration project.

The first of the blocks to come down is Lenton Court, and luckily for us the whole process was caught on camera. If you'd like to see how it progressed click on the link below as unfortunately there's no way to embed the video.

World Demolition Awards video week

At the beginning of November the World Demolition Summit 2011 was held in the Hotel Akura, Amsterdam. As part of the event the World Demolition Awards 2011 were also announced. KHL has been kind enough to give us access to a number of videos from the awards, and this week we will be posting them on the site.

The first video of the week is the Introduction from the Morning Session given by our very own John Woodward and Giuseppe Panseri, President of the EDA.

We're hoping that YouTube's automatic translation feature kicks in and allows English subtitles to appear in the video soon.

C&D launch new demolition training website

Regular readers of this site will know that C&D intend to launch on line training for the demolition industry in early 2012 and in preperation for this launch a new website has been created to deal specifically with demolition training.

Details of C&D courses will remain on www.demolishdismantle.co.uk as at present, but the new site www.demolitiontraining.com will have further details of all of the courses and will, in the future, include video training and awareness courses.

At the moment Matthew is building the new site so it is in its infancy, but please click across to it and then mark it as a favourite for the future.

Sustainability has become important, meaning companies now have to think about how to take down buildings carefully rather than turning them into rubble.
